Google pulls plug on renewable energy project
According to many major news media outlets, including MSNBC and Reuters, Google Inc. has decided to drop its earlier announced project to move away from coal and into more green friendly territory with solar power.
Google's head honchos announced on Tuesday that they were pulling the air saving plug on there Renewable Energy efforts.
Google had announced their renewable energy plan back in the Spring. Most believe the announcement came because Google is no longer the powerhouse it once was as Apple and Facebook continue to move into their territory.
When Google made their renewable energy announcement they strongly stood behind the idea stating the company was ready to 'move to the next level.'
Since 2007 Google has been investing in renewable energy research with a strong interest in solar power. By 2009 their representative Bill Weihl told the press that Google would 'demonstrate within a few years working technology that could produce renewable energy at a cheaper price than coal.' Weihl un-expectantly left Google a few weeks ago.
Had Google forged forward with their plans to turn to green friendly renewable energy they easily could have been the champion in the campaign forcing others to follow their lead and move away from environmentally damaging fossil fuels.
