Healthy two headed baby born to Brazilian mom

A beautiful and healthy two-headed baby was born to a Brazilian woman. The pair share a heart, liver, lungs and pelvis. The mother has named them Emanoel and Jesus.

Emanoel and Jesus were born by caesarean, which took over an hour because the little one was sitting down. There were problems during the delivery, but both mom and baby pulled through. Emanoel and Jesus weighrf 9.9 pounds and have separate spines. Doctors told media that the baby is very healthy.

In most cases like Emanoel and Jesus' one brain is less developed and one head is removed to save the child's life. In Emanoel and Jesus' case they have two healthy functioning brains and that complicates the decision doctors have to make. With both brains functioning normally how do you decide which to remove?

Right now doctors are monitoring them closely and waiting to see how they develop. This is the second birth of a child born with two heads in Brazil this year. The other child, sadly, died a few hours after birth due to lack of oxygen to one of the baby's heads. There hae been 14 reported dicephalic twins born in the last 200 years.
